The Notice of Intended Marriage Form (NOIM) form must be completed, signed and witnessed by an authorised wedding celebrant, Justice of the Peace, an Ausrtalian Diplomatic Officer or Australian Consular Officer and sent to me a minimum of one month prior to the wedding date and no more than 18 months before it.

You will also need to produce evidence of date and place of Birth. If born in Australia this would normally be an original or extract birth certificate. For those born overseas, a passport. In the case of a previous marriage, you will need to provide documentary evidence of the termination of that marriage. If widowed, a death certificate must be provided.
Both members of the couple to be married must be over 18 years of age. If under 18 a court order is required.
A person must not marry an ancestor, a descendant or brother or sister (either by birth or adoption). If marrying some other person related by blood, they are advised to consult a medical practioner if there is any possibility of having children.
There must be 2 witnesses to the ceremony (both must be over 18 years of age).
The ceremony must be performed by a person authorised by the Attorney General's Department.
